BEYOND
Navigating Career Paths for Spouse Visa Holders
JINHEE JUNG
How can design empower spouse visa holders to navigate their own career paths in a new country?
As a spouse visa holder, Jung faced challenges adapting to a new country and pursuing her career. By leveraging her personal experiences, Jung developed Beyond, a collection of practical tools and solutions designed to address the real-life challenges faced by those in the United States on a Spouse Visa and support their pursuit of meaningful careers.
Beyond empowers spouse visa holders to navigate their career paths in a new country. The portfolio includes three key works: Beyond, a career planning application; an e-newsletter delivering inspiration and resources; and a booklet containing a collection of stories from those with spouse visas.
Beyond is a career development application for those with spouse visas. Alongside career planning tools and resources, Beyond fosters a supportive community where users can share experiences and celebrate milestones along their journey. By empowering users to take proactive steps toward their goals, Beyond aims to alleviate feelings of uncertainty and isolation, helping them thrive in their new environment.
The e-newsletter is sent to users as a marketing tool, delivering curated content including unheard success stories, app updates, community events, and new career planning resources.
The booklet contains a collection of stories from spouse visa holders who have successfully found career paths in their new countries, showcasing empowering narratives and highlighting challenges and triumphs in their new country.
